Austin based indie prog rockers are having a Halloween themed CD release party hosted by Austin’s ‘alternative’ rock station: 101X, to be held at Club Deville. The band is dropping their newest release entitled: Alive which boasts production from Danny Reisch, who has worked on records for Bright Light Social Hour and White Denim. RSVP here!
Our own Haun’s Mill has also been added to the bill, making this a surefire eclectic evening of great Austin based indie bands. Haun’s Mill is currently offering an exclusive free download of their popular track Haven’t Felt This Way in Days. The band is also in post production for their second music video off of their debut, self titled album, to be released shortly. They also begin recording their next project come December and we are VERY pumped to hear it.
In the meantime, enjoy a video from Golden Bear, and we hope to see you there!

Mathew Mayfield is rolling into Stubb’s and our own Reed Turner is opening for him. This is a great line-up. Mathew is young but has already had a roller coaster career. Once signed to Epic records, the Alabama based singer decided to abandon the major label approach, and pounded it out as a DIYer. Since that time, Mathew has had several songs placed in Grey’s Anatomy which helped to secure him a number one single on the iTunes charts.
Reed is busy promoting his latest EP, and is coming off a slew of TV appearances as well as a sold out concert for his release party held at the prestigious Austin venue: Saxon Pub. This upcoming show is sure to sell out, so buy your tickets now! In the meantime, enjoy a video from Mathew’s latest single: Now You’re Free. Hope to see you there!
To help promote Reed’s latest project as well as his EP release party this Thursday at Saxon Pub in Austin, Reed has been hitting the local TV stations, and performing. Here are the videos from his performances. You can also hear and see Reed today at 4pm on KEYE TV. Stream it here. If you haven’t RSVP’ed to the event to get your signed CD as well as 2 bucks off the door cover, click here. In addition to the TV spots, we’d like to congratulate Reed as well for being accepted into Pandora radio. His music should begin streaming very shortly. Enjoy the videos, and we hope to see you at Saxon tomorrow evening.

Lets face it, who is listening to the radio all that much anymore? Nearly every vehicle has iPod docks, or satellite radio capabilities. Or we are listening to Pandora, I Heart Radio, or the many other streaming services through our smart phones. And honestly who can blame us. Radio stations are corrupted by limited playlists or stricken by the uber corrupt Payola policy derived from major record labels.
If you are an Austinite, or simply a visitor, then you need to listen to KUT, or 90.5 FM locally. It is an auditory pleasure freeing us from the burden of tuning in to the same 8 songs over and over again. KUT plays a WIDE array of tunes, B-sides, avant garde, vintage, and experimental. When we do get a chance to listen to it, nearly every time we hear something that we never have before, and that is what music is truly about; discovery.
KUT is holding a pledge drive and we urge you to hop on over here and make a donation today. KUT is run by us, and 87% of public donations keep the station pumping music 24 hours a day. We also greatly appreciate them, because they actually care about the local music scene. They gladly support up and coming talent here in town, and are highly involved with HAAM, the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, which is free health care for struggling local artists.
Still unsure, well tune in to their station, or click the picture above and learn more about them from their website.

Indigo Music artist: Haun’s Mill is now playing nationwide thanks to the fine folks at Pandora radio. Pandora has been around in the States since around 2007. It first started off as a free internet radio service, offering users the options to ‘donate’ money via PayPal to eliminate commercials. However, now in order to do that you can pay them an annual service fee of $36, which is pretty reasonable. Pandora is a fantastic tool for music lovers as it gives you the ability to create personalized radio stations, offering users the ability to like, and dislike songs, thus really fine tuning the listening experience.
Coupled with that ability is the option to bookmark tunes, as well as purchase them through iTunes and Amazon. However, one of the biggest complaints by users is that of repetitious music, or lack of diversity. Well, that is all fixed now that Haun’s Mill has been added! So head on over today and create a ‘Haun’s Mill’ station, and if you like what you hear, support them by buying their music!
Pigeon John is out and on tour this year, promoting his newest record: Dragon Slayer which is appropriately being released through the venerable Nor-Cal super label: Quannum Projects. PJ and RC hooked up around three years ago out in Hollywood. The two worked together on a couple of shows, one being a sold out gig at the Knitting Factory, and another show at the uber scenester bar of it’s time: Lex Deux. This is a remix of PJ’s latest single: I’m the Bomb. Take a listen, download and share, and be sure to support Pigeon John. Click the picture above to visit his site and purchase some tunes. He has a dope catalog of great hip-hop.
Unfortunately for us he is touring outside the US at the moment, his last show in the States being in Colorado with RJD2.
Indie Folk crooner, Eliza Rickman is in town this Saturday and opening for her is Indigo Music artist: Haun’s Mill. Eliza hails from San Francisco, Ca. and knows how to rock the shit out of a toy piano. The show is being held at the very avant garde and vintage trendy, Swan Dive, located on Red River and 6th in Austin. Doors are at 9pm.
Click here to RSVP to the show, and in the meantime, enjoy a couple of videos by Eliza Rickman and Haun’s Mill!
